I am a first-generation lawyer hailing from a family that has little to no association with the justice system. Right from a young age I was intrigued by how finer prints in click wrap agreements to the televised depiction of courtrooms and lives of lawyers. Soon I found myself in the hallways of Bangalore's oldest law college, University Law College. I graduated in 2012 and got enrolled as an Advocate. I went on to obtain my master's degree in business law from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, India. Thereafter, I started working with the Aditya Birla Group in the capacity of an in-house counsel, working on a wide spectrum of matters that related to the business and their products and services. After having spent over 2 years in the in-house counsel role I decided to make a change and move to litigation. I commenced working with Veritae Legal at Cochin, Kerala and handled multiple commercial litigation and indirect tax matters. In 2019, after landing in Canada I continued working as an independent legal advisor working for clients in the construction business while also undergoing the licensing process to become a lawyer in Canada. In October 2022, I was called to the Law Society of Ontario (while holding the position of Adjudicator in the Ministry of Transportation) and in February 2023 I joined the Law Society of Alberta. After taking a break from active work (courtesy: motherhood) I returned to active practice in October 2023. Currently I am a criminal defence lawyer and my work is primarily based out of Edmonton. I deal with a variety of criminal matters including but not limited to assault, sexual assault, property offences, drug related offences, driving offences, safe roads reviews, bail hearing and offences involving youth offenders. I also maintain an active practice in the area of wills & estate, civil litigation and immigration appeals. Prior to joining the firm, I was part of the Alberta Crown Prosecutions Office and prosecuted driving offences.
On the personal front I am mom to two beautiful children, my husband is also a lawyer and works in the Alberta Crown Prosecution Services and I am also blessed with the presence and support of my parents.
