FAQ

Do you offer home based or gym based workout programs?

I can offer both! I meet client where they are at, and build a program based on their needs and access to equipment. Don't have a gym membership? No problem! We can get you started at home and get into fantastic shape. Or, have a membership to a gym but don't know what to do? I got you!

How long are the workouts? I'm busy and don't have time.

I totally get it. I was working a full time job with kids and found the secret sauce to getting in shape and would love to share it with you! None of my workouts are over 45 minutes. You are done in less than 40 minutes and can get on with your day.

How is the South Asian body composition different than the general population??

South Asians have a low lean mass. South Asians have low lean tissue mass relative to height, which contributes to their elevated type 2 diabetes likelihood, particularly when obese as well.

South Asians also have different amounts of fat and lean mass.

Where this fat is stored on then body is important to note. South Asians tend to store fat in the liver, abdomen, and muscles (known as visceral or ectopic fat). Visceral fat causes more harm than subcutaneous fat, which is fat stored beneath the skin.

South Asians are at a higher risk for diabetes and heart disease than any other ethnic group, according to Stanford Health.

How does our cultural food affect fitness?

We have incredible dishes that can be savory and loaded with a blend of spices. As South Asians, we tend to over eat on rice and naan (carbohydrates) and under eat protein and healthy fats. We also tend to over use oils, sugar and fry foods which increases the calories of the meal. The key is to have more balanced meals and eat whole foods that are nutrient dense and calorie sparse. We can still flavor our food with all our wonderful spices, without the extra fat/calories!

What support do you provide on nutrition?

I'm a big believer in back to the basics of eating real, whole foods. I don't follow any trending diet. I provide you with support, guidance and training on your macronutrients, how to eat out at restaurants, and stay on track even with a social life.
